Grove Exercise Physiology started as an idea driven by a simple belief: That exercise, when done properly, has the power to change lives. After seeing firsthand how the right support can help people regain confidence, better manage their health, and move without fear, Grove Exercise Physiology was created as a way to give back and make a meaningful difference. We wanted to build a place where people feel supported, listened to, and genuinely cared for. At Grove Exercise Physiology, we are committed to providing accessible, affordable, and high-quality healthcare that empowers individuals to live healthier, stronger, and more independent lives, now and into the future.

What is an Exercise Physiologist?
An Exercise Physiologist (AEP) is a university-trained allied health professional who designs and delivers safe and effective exercise programs for people with chronic diseases, injuries, disabilities, and for general health, focusing on prevention, management, and rehabilitation to improve function, health, and independence
Do I need a referral to see an Exercise Physiologist?
A referral is not necessary to see an Exercise Physiologist. However, if you want to claim a Medicare rebate or use private health insurance, you may be eligible for a referral from your GP, especially if the treatment is related to a chronic health condition.
Is Exercise Physiology covered by Medicare or Private Health Insurance
Exercise Physiology services may be covered by Medicare under a Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDM), with a referral from your GP. Many private health insurance plans also cover Exercise Physiology as part of their extras cover, however it is recommended you check with your provider for further details.
What should I expect during my first session with an Exercise Physiologist?
During your first session, a thorough assessment of your medical history, health status, and goals will be conducted. There may involve some physical tests to gauge your strength, flexibility, and endurance. Based on this assessment, a personalised exercise plan will be created, and tailored to your needs.
Is Exercise Physiology beneficial for older adults?
Absolutely. Exercise Physiologists specialise in creating programs for older adults that improve balance, mobility, and strength while reducing the risk of falls and managing age-related health conditions.
Can Exercise Physiologist's help with pain management?
Through carefully designed and guided exercise, an Exercise Physiologist can help you improve mobility, strengthen muscles, and reduce both acute and chronic pain, especially for conditions like arthritis, back pain, and more.
How does an Exercise Physiologist differ from a Personal Trainer?
While both Exercise Physiologists and Personal Trainers create and conduct exercise programs, Exercise Physiologists have advanced training in managing chronic health conditions, injuries, and complex medical conditions through exercise. Exercise Physiologists often work with patients who require specialised care beyond general fitness training.
Can Exercise Physiology assist following surgery?
Yes, Exercise Physiologists can play a key role in post-surgical rehabilitation. They create personalised exercise programs that help you regain strength, mobility, and function after surgery, ensuring a safe and effective recovery.
